Sheleigh's Brush Earrings (Post and Nugget Style)

Regular price $110.00

In Newfoundland and Labrador there is a long tradition of referring to the day after St. Patrick's Day as Sheleigh's Day.  In Irish folk legend, who Sheleigh actually is has remained a bit of a mystery, though she is sometimes considered to be either the wife, sister, housekeeper or acquaintance of the Irish Saint Patrick.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, a snow storm occurring after March 18 is commonly referred to as "Sheleigh's Brush".  Fisherman were traditionally reluctant to put their gear in the water and sealers preferred to head out to the ice fields after Sheleigh's Brush had passed.  This storm usually brought with it a heavy snowfall, brushing the last vestiges of winter away.

Presenting Sheleigh's Brush Earrings.  Golden Shadow Swarovski Elements beads and warm rose gold-filled metal evoke the days of late March, when ice and snow are still present but the days are growing longer and the sun's power is growing stronger. Suspended on posts and nuggets, these earrings measure just over 3 cm (1.25 inches) in total length.

At The Purple Raven Boutique, every piece of jewelry tells a story.  Make one part of yours.
