Shields have figured prominently throughout human history as part of personal armor, designed to protect the wearer from both close-range attacks as well as from projectiles such as spears or arrows. The Norse also hung shields from the sides of their ships as added protection from waves and wind.
Presenting Shield Earrings (Reverse Embellished) - Hammered raw copper discs suspended from sterling silver ear wires harken back to the weathered shields that made their way to the shores of northern Newfoundland over a thousand years ago. These earrings come in three styles: plain, with a copper bead drop, and reversed with a drop accent. They measure between 1 1/4 and 1 5/8 inches in total length making them perfect for everyday wear.
These earrings are the newest additions to the L'Anse Aux Meadows Collection, designed and made by The Purple Raven Boutique.
